Asians gather in Kurdistan to celebrate Chinese New Year
A large number of people from Asia live and work in the Kurdistan Region. It is estimated that more than 20,000 expatriates reside in the Kurdistan Region.
Last week in Sulaimani, they celebrated Losar, a Tibetan Buddhist New Year festival, at the city's main public park, Bakhi Gshty, renowned for its statues of great Kurdish writers and intellectuals.
Many people from Nepal, China, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh and the Philippines live in the Kurdistan Region and follow different faiths including Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam.
