UK Envoy Reiterates Support for Rights of Kurds
The British Ambassador to Iraq, Jon Wilks, said on Tuesday that his country continues supporting the Kurds and their legitimate rights, and that London wishes for stronger ties especially in the field of economy and energy.
During a press conference in Erbil, Wilks welcomed the recent dialogues between Erbil and Baghdad in hopes of finding a solution to their disputes, saying that Kurds should form a powerful political team to work in Baghdad.
He made it clear that the UK government would continue its support to the Kurdish Peshmerga forces who were fighting on the forefront of the war against the Islamic State (IS).
The British diplomat has been in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah for the last few days, meeting with several senior officials in the region.
