Masrour Barzani Warns Against Arabisation of Kirkuk
The Chancellor of Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC), Masrour Barzani, has made it clear that the ongoing process of Arabisation across Kirkuk and other disputed Kurdish territories “won’t be accepted”.
During a meeting with British envoys in Iraq and Erbil, Barzani urged Baghdad on taking an immediate action and prevent the militias from continuing with the Arabisation of Kurdish territories.
He also reiterated that the disputes over Kirkuk should be resolved through the Constitution of Iraq after the situation there is brought back to normal.
Barzani believes that “Baghdad’s faults” have led the components of the country to lose trust, and it has also created such a huge gap which allows extremist groups to be born or re-emerge.
The British delegation, headed by Ambassador Jon Wilks once again expressed support to a peaceful resolution between Erbil and Baghdad. He also pledged his country’s continued support for the Kurdistan Region.
