Swedish FM Urges Baghdad to Lift Ban on Kurdistan's Airports
Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström called on the federal government to end the ban on the international flights in the region after the state extended the embargo for another three months on Monday.
The Swedish minister said that the Iraqi government could resolve all its issues with the Kurdistan Regional government (KRG) through “comprehensive dialogue”, according to Kurdistan 24.
“It is necessary for comprehensive talks to start between Erbil and Baghdad and lift the ban on the airports in the Kurdistan Region,” Wallström told Kurdistan 24.
Since last October, the Iraqi government has imposed a number of sanctions on the Kurdistan Region as a reaction to the independence referendum held by the region on September 25th.
