Iraqi Candidates Hope for Election Win by Anti-Kurdistan Mottos
Iraqi candidates are attempting to win in the upcoming parliamentary election by saying mottos against the Kurdistan Region, said an MP in the Iraqi Council of Representatives.
"Unfortunately, candidates from different political factions, especially those who run for parliamentary seats through Arab electoral lists use anti-Kurdistan slogans to win the hearts and minds of the majority of Iraqi citizens," Najiba Najib confirmed to BasNews.
She said that the candidates who use TV channels for their anti-Kurds allegations, usually win in the vote.
The Iraqi parliamentary election is set for May 12 in which a total of 88 electoral factions, made up of 6,904 candidates are running for 328 parliamentary seats, according to the Iraqi Electoral Commission.
However, 52 Kurdish candidates are running on Arab electoral lists without facing any obstacles from the Kurdistan Regional Government.
